Fireworks Could Pose Health Risk to Thyroid Gland or Environment
The traditional Fourth of July fireworks could prove to be detrimental to a healthy thyroid and to the planet. Fireworks contain the ingredient potassium perchlorate that has been linked to thyroid problems. Both rocket fuel and fireworks produce potassium perchlorate, which has been shown to contaminate water supplies as well as to infiltrate the food chain.
